Moving to a new place can be a very exciting proposition.

You get to live in a brand new place, in a new neighborhood, and it opens up a vast amount of intriguing possibilities and new and exciting experiences like a real estate trend.  Unfortunately moving to a new place also creates a certain amount of angst and anxiety, as you are unsure if the place you are moving to is exactly right for you, or whether or not you really are going to enjoy the neighborhood and your experience there.

Even though the excitement of new possibilities is there, moving to a new place still creates a large amount of anxiety about the unknown.  At High Touch Moving we understand this difficult position, but we are happy to report there is a new real estate trend around that can help alleviate some of that anxiety and it is referred to as “try before you buy.”

Real estate trend for potential buyers

“try before you buy” is a relatively new concept that is widening in popularity and changing the way people look to purchase or rent homes.  It works just as the name implies, allowing potential homeowners and renters to try out a home before they purchase it, in order to get a better feel for the place they could potentially move into.  The idea of spending time in the house you could be looking to purchase is a tremendous opportunity, as you could save yourself from making a bad financial investment.

In an article posted on Yahoo Finance, a New York anesthesiologist Roy Berenholtz, tries out the new real estate trend approach when he looks to rent an East Harlem apartment in New York City.  There the realtor gave him the opportunity to spend the day or night in the apartment, to get a better feel for the place.  Roy was quoted by Yahoo as commenting “You can’t get better than having the opportunity to try it out before you actually [put in an offer] and move in.”  Roy also commented, “Living there for a few hours made me realize the fine details that I would not have picked up on when coming in for a 10-minute viewing in an open house.”

The realtor in New York who began this trend is Limor Nesher.  This New York selling strategy is considered an exceptional idea, as it allows consumers to spend quality time in their dream location and figure out the nuances of the living space as well as the neighborhood.

Before then, the hassle of purchasing an apartment came with unknown circumstances such as loud and obnoxious neighbors and previously unnoticed flaws with the apartment or house.  Potential buyers everywhere should relish the opportunity to use this new technique as a brand new experience that will allow them to buy the house or apartment that they have always wanted, and make sure that it is exactly how it appears.
